I only get two weeks off for Christmas! Had I gone to school in the States, I would have had a full month! I haven’t been home since school started in early September! I am embittered!
And how is it I’m getting to and from the airport! Toronto’s is over an hour away! Flying out of Buffalo would have saved literally hundreds of dollars, and would have been significantly more convenient!
My Religion grade is causing me pain, killing my GPA, and threatening my ability to transfer to a better school next year! Study as I may, I never do well!
As much animosity as I’m feeling towards this school at the moment, I did attend an excellent Bible Study tonight, and I do live with some great people.

This has been my first Thanksgiving away from home, in a country that does not observe such a holiday on this day.
I dressed up as an Indian and Kimber as a Pilgrim. Except she was a killjoy and didn’t stay in such a costume all day, as I did.
And I made stuffing in the microwave and opened a can of cranberry sauce. We had it with spaghetti. It was all right.
I called home. Rather, the Amatos’ home, where my family was partying it up.
Soon it will be Christmas break, and for this I am excited. Today was fun, though, albeit vaguely melancholic.
The garbage dropping went very well tonight, thank you very much. Three down, two shows to go. One down and three point six tomorrow…

I just rearranged my dorm room. It is awkward yet vaguely more aesthetic. For example: my desk is in my closet. Also I have a modicum of privacy. Wireless internet has returned. It is a good time to be an inhabitant of Dorm 15.
Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching (though no one will admit it), and this means that Christmas is just around the corner. Canadians don’t wait until American Thanksgiving to set up their Christmas decor in their homes and stores; it is a lawless land. Anyhow, I’m excited to be going home in the relatively near future. And to Memphis.
And who is the artist of the day? Ray LaMontagne is the artist of the day!
I have work to do and little desire to get it done. Also, I have no time this week because of a certain play I seem to have involved myself with, so I should be doing even more now.
I am drained. I’ve been thinking a significant amount.

The day before spring break, I am seeing the Barenaked Ladies in Toronto. I will go home for spring break, and on the day after spring break, I may see Guster in Toronto.
Or the Barenaked Ladies and Guster are in Buffalo (together!) on the eleventh of next month. Either/or/and.

I am in the same art class as another fan of The Benevento/Russo Duo. I was impressed. For the uninformed, The Benevento/Russo Duo is kind of like Boards of Canada, but better. Additionally, they opened for Trey and Mike and Phil this summer. I saw them. And they’re spectacular.
Does anyone else notice the irony of a Canadian quoting “Sunny With The High Of 75″ in an MSN name? (Editor’s Note: Canadians do not use Farenheit.)
Some kindly soul needs to wash the kisses off my window.

Yesterday there were several of us sitting around in my room when the doorbell rang.
“Not it!”, I cried.
“Who is it?”, they asked.
“What do you mean ‘not it’!”, the compost collector demanded through the open window.
“You see, there are many people here available to open the door, though I am always the one to get it. My housemates need to learn that if they want people to visit, they must take responsibility and let them in. It’s quite simple, actually”, I explained.
After someone had broken down and let her in and she had collected our compost pile, she noted the open window.
“You had better not have the furnace running with that window open”, said she.
“Of course we do. That’s why it’s open; it’s too hot in here.”
She shook her head and remarked that twenty-seven was unnecessarily hot. I remarked that I was American and that my knowledge of Centigrade was lacking, and that I liked it hot. She remarked that twenty-one was room temperature and so we would have it on twenty and all would be well. After she was gone, I put it back to twenty-five. I still don’t know the conversion, but twenty-five is pleasant. Besides, I’m environmentally conscious in other ways.

I broke my full length mirror. This is distressing because I don’t know what I look like anymore.
I want to see Guster in Geneva, New York on November 15th. Anyone interested in such an adventure should contact me. I am also distressed because this is highly, highly unlikely.
Nothing could be more distressing than baking laxative brownies for your lovely neighbors and having them not cause any damage. Hey, that happened today too.
There is a dire need in this dorm for wireless internet. We used to have it, but now it is gone. I am very tempted to go forth and buy such a thing, but who has the money for such frivalous expenditures!
The weather has grown bitterly cold and this too distresses me. My housemates voiced their disapproval of my turning the thermostat up to 30˚ on a regular basis.
I met with my Religion professor regarding the outrageously low grade I received on my midterm this afternoon. He was rather condescending and of little help. It’s like the school claims to welcome diversity of denominations yet students are penalized for not having a basic knowledge of Reformed Theology in several of the required religion courses. I don’t know. I’m preparing a scathing editorial for the Crown in his honor. And a satire as to how ridiculous this school is.
I can’t wait for this semester to end. Next semester I am actually in classes that I enjoy.
James Madison and William and Mary applications, here I come.
